Continuing the Discussion: Creating a Bakery Menu

During Circle Time, we re-visited our pictures from the bakery.  We also passed around pretend bakery food objects used in pretend play to compare and make connections with the photographs.  The children used photographs and 3D pretend food objects (like bread, cupcakes, brownies and cookies) to create their own bakery item for the menu.  The older ones preferred to draw more, while the younger ones preferred to manipulate different objects.

The photos from the bakery are displayed on the piano. During circle time, the children looked at the 3D play objects. We reviewed what they said they wanted to have on their Bakery Menu. The art supplies in the middle are some ways for them to re-create some of those baked goods.

I have some pictures of the children using the materials to create baked goods for their menu, but I don’t have pictures of them looking at the objects during Circle Time, or a recorded discussion.  I’m still learning how to document these important moments while also facilitating the group. More to come so stay tuned!
